Painted Leather Earrings
I try very hard to paint pictures like a real artist. I've tried watercolor (really hard), oils (fun but clean-up is nasty) and acrylics. I have boxes of acrylic paintings in my garage, none of which are fit to hang on my walls. I tried using my acrylics on leather and was thrilled with the result, colorful and textured. I cut the leather with my nifty leather scissors into different shapes, painted the shapes with my acrylics, punched a hole in each shape and coated them with a stiffener to create dimension. They are really fun to make and each pair is unique. The best thing about them is that they pack a bold statement with hardly any weight. They are so light you'll hardly know you're wearing them.
